Music Box Wealden
Music Box Wealden is a new Community Interest Company, with a main focus of classical music
Aiming to make a contribution to the musical health of our community and help to make sure that this vital part of our culture is still alive and well for future generations to enjoy. Music Box is a new venture with an exciting programme of concerts all over the Wealden area. Most of the performers will be drawn from the pool of talented professional musicians who live locally, and will also be featuring lots of young and emerging talents.

6th October 19:00: A Liszt Recital
Andra Băcilă gives a solo piano recital – a programme of Liszt piano works. Andra Băcilă is an outstanding young pianist. She recently played a solo recital at the Liszt Institute (Balassi Institute) in Paris, and in 2022 she won numerous competitions including The Hungarian Music Festival, International Moscow Music Online Competition and Future Stars International Piano Competition.
7th October 14:30 – The Story of Babar the Elephant – a children’s concert
Narrated by international soprano Dame Felicity Lott and illustrated by Poulenc’s enchanting piano music performed by pianist Matthew Fletcher who is a member of Glyndebourne Opera Festival’s music staff . A wonderful way to introduce children to live music in a real theatre. Followed by a screening of Babar’s Triumph, an episode from the 1989 animated TV series.
8th October 14:30 – A Celebration of English Song
Jozik Kotz (bass) and Colin Hughes (piano) take a journey through some of the highways and byways of the song genre in English, with a recital which includes much-loved favourites, lesser-known gems and some lighter numbers
